The Wards of Lore is a community of enthusiastic gamers united by a shared love for immersive stories and collaborative fun. We are an eclectic group of friends who explore digital realms together in online games and gather around the table (both in-person and virtually) for tabletop role-playing adventures.
Our Worlds and Adventures
Our adventures span multiple worlds and genres. You can find us patrolling the streets of Paragon City in City of Heroes, journeying through Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings Online, or choosing our fate in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Beyond the screen, we are avid tabletop gamers. Our dice roll for epic campaigns in games like Pathfinder and Starfinder, unravel mysteries in the Dresden Files RPG, and explore countless other systems. Our in-person gatherings are often casual social events, where the game is just one part of a great time spent with friends.
Our Characters, Our Stories
More than just a guild tag or a character sheet, we are a group of storytellers. We believe the best characters are those with a strong connection to the world they inhabit. We love diving deep into the lore of a game, creating heroes and villains that feel like a natural part of the setting, or even expanding on a small piece of lore to build something entirely new—like our “Star Patrol” group in City of Heroes.
At the same time, we never forget that gaming is about having fun. Our character rosters are filled with not only epic heroes and cunning strategists but also delightfully goofy characters created purely for a good laugh. This balance is guided by our golden rule: “If everyone is having fun, you’re not doing it wrong.” This philosophy is central to our community; it reminds us that the ultimate goal is for everyone to enjoy the story we’re creating together and to help ensure others are having fun as well.
How We Play
We are role-players at heart. During group sessions, it’s not uncommon for the action to pause while our characters chat back and forth, developing their relationships and pushing the story forward. We also recognize the value of individual journeys; members frequently play solo to grind through levels at their own pace or to quietly explore a new questline, absorbing every detail of the world without distraction. For us, it’s all about enjoying the game in the way that feels right.
