Ashley Webb never knew her father. He died only a few months after she was born, but like everyone else in Paragon City, Ashley remembered him as the man who discovered interdimensional travel.
A young teenager during the Rikti Invasion of ’02, Ashley was fascinated by her father’s legacy and often snuck into Portal Corp to explore as her mother worked elsewhere in the facility. As Ashley hid behind an experimental portal generator, an explosion trapped her under the wreckage as she was bombarded with dimensional energy. The effects of this energy on Ashley would remain dormant for years.
During the second Rikti invasion, Ashely encountered a Rikti bomb in the Portal Corp parking lot. As the bomb exploded Ashley’s powers unlocked for the first time. Dubbed “Portal Girl” by the public, Ashley became a self styled spokeswoman for Portal Corp. Ashley’s mother, and Portal Corp shareholders, deny any official relationship with Portal Girl and attempt to keep her true identity a secret.
